Just Add Water
With the advent of cheap air travel comes the demise of native holiday resorts. No longer popular due to the unpredictable nature of Irish weather, they have all suffered from neglect in recent years. Their dilapidated foreshores consist of rundown shops and fast food outlets. Brash gaudy amusement arcades flicker and wink, pumping demented electronic rhythms into the night, their seedy sheen has a strange allure. Among the dandelions and the chip wrappers, a shoddiness is revealed.
There is rust under the paintwork and cracks in the plaster. The bathing areas with their unique art deco architecture are slowly falling into disrepair.
