 All that Surrounds us

A solo show of work in the Ashford Gallery R.H.A by Jennifer Cunningham. See link for an opening speech by Mick o Dea P.R.H.A.

The RHA is an artist-led organisation, Its core remit is to support contemporary art and artists in Ireland through exhibition, education and advocacy. The Exhibitions programme also brings significant contemporary international art to Irish audiences. The RHA Ashford Gallery encourages young artists not already showing with a commercial gallery

For this exhibition, Jennifer developed a body of work investigating the ways in which modern realms of collective pleasure decay. Abandoned fairgrounds, overgrown glass houses, untended car parks, ghostly figures and derelict hotels all hint at recent economic struggles but also suggests the cycle of change and renewal in which places become spaces and vice versa.

The show is dedicated to the memory of the artist’s father Padraig Cunningham who passed away unexpectedly on Saturday the 4th of March 2017. Padraig was a creative man and a gentle giant who was well known in the traditional Irish singer and songwriter circles in Galway and Clare and participated in them for over 40 years. He will be greatly missed.
